Fashion Week: Runway Desserts

With the culmination of Fashion Week, which featured the Fall 2009 collections, I thought it would be relevant to show these delicate treats that reflect the latest runway looks. The expression to “have your cake and eat it too” finally applies. Fashion Week highlights from various designers can be tasted at Bergdorf Goodman’s CafĂ© BG everyday from 3-5:30. So if you missed Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, check out the cheat sheet depicted through food.

Want to know what designer’s desserts to expect? Michael Kors' red and blue striped Regatta dress, Chanel's quilted handbag, Christian Louboutin crystal pump and other items from Oscar de la Renta, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon and Marchesa.

I think these items are adorable, but expect a high demand of fashion connoisseurs already in line or with reservations. But while you wait, you can see these designers’ real looks in person at the fashion fortress, Bergdorf Goodman’s of course.

The Domino Effect?

Sadly I learned that Domino Magazine, a beloved home interior shopping publication, is folding. As the sister magazine to Lucky, Domino is known for its comprehensive guide to home decor. Domino is a three year old publication within Conde Nast. What does this mean for the future of magazines? Will print die out and online publications be the new go to source for inspiration? Be sure to get the March issue, Domino's finale.

Calypso Clutches

Not just a gold clutch with a neon fabric down the center. I think Calypso's new creation is adorable and extremly practical. In can be used year round and works with tons of outfits. They come in lots of other vibrant colors, check out http://www.calypso-celle.com/shop/cart.php

More Than a Theory

Theory is in style, especially with the new Spring collection.

The structure and sleekness of Theory is what attracts me to this brand. I walked into the Theory store today and fell in love with some of the pieces in the Spring collection. Although they may appear simple, these dresses are all sophisticated in color and shape. They are bold and immediatley caught my eye. These styles are perfect for summer internship attire.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

“You know that feeling when you see someone cute and he smiles and your heart kinda goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast? Well that’s what it’s like when I see a store!”

I am so excited for the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic to come out! Between the witty expressions in the trailer paired with the song Disturbia, I can barely contain my excitement. I practically grew up reading the Confessions of a Shopaholic series and now these fantasies are becoming a motion picture. Isla Fisher is adorable and seems like the perfect fit for Rebecca Bloomwood. Her character is hilarious and although exaggerated, the movie will be clever and entertaining. I doubt it will be as good as The Devil Wears Prada, but the fashion appears to be bold and unique. I can’t wait until February…

Jet Setter Essentials

Planning a trip? Make packing easy by visiting the chic store Flight 001. In 1998, aboard a flight from New York to Paris, two businessmen decided that traveling needed to be made simple. They envisioned a shop that would offer all the travel essentials for a modern jet setter. This mid air idea soon transformed into the creation of Flight 001 boutiques in major cities including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Praised by Lucky, Conde Nast Traveler, Domino and Harper’s Bizarre, Flight 001 is the ultimate necessity for your pre travel preparations. The environment of these stores is intended to resemble a 747 jet airliner with curved walls and innovative decor. They carry everything from decorative luggage tags to portable pillows and handy space savor bags. Whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally, be in style and organized with Flight 001 products.
